ADVERTISING DIRECTOR
The Duke Student Publishing Co. Inc. (DSPC), publishers of The Chronicle, the independent student newspaper of Duke University, has an immediate opening for an advertising director for its publishing business.
The ideal candidate would have advertising sales management and supervisory experience with a daily newspaper (preferably a campus newspaper) and possess
an orientation toward understanding and innovating revenue opportunities in both paper and digital publishing. The advertising director will supervise several non-student professional staff with close interaction or direct oversight of a student staff. DSPC is a non-profit educational organization. All employees of DSPC are Duke University employees who are leased to DSPC, so we offer the University’s very competitive compensation and outstanding benefit package. Responsibilities:
Research and seek out qualified sales leads for joint sales efforts.
Sell sampling and promotion opportunities to national advertisers seeking to reach Alloys specialized youth and general markets.
Generate profitable revenue from new and established accounts as assigned.
Build business relationships with current and prospective clients through high level of communication via telephone, email and in-person meetings.
Requirements:
~ 1-3 years proven experience selling to national advertisers.
Previous inside sales experience with measurable success is required.
Previous sampling and/or promotional sales experience is ideal!
Proven ability to prioritize with excellent time management skills to effectively manage new business generation.
Proven ability to offer creative solutions and adapt to selling new products quickly
Must be well organized, goal oriented and highly motivated to succeed!!
Exceptionally strong telephone communication skills
Education/Training: BA/BS required.
